Dhaka: Health officials today said they recorded 1,007 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts, killing at least three persons in the past 24 hours. ‘We recorded deaths of three dengue patients in 24 hours ending at 8 am today,’ a spokesman of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said adding his office simultaneously recorded 1,007 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts during the same period.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the DGHS statistics reveal that two of the deaths occurred in areas under the purview of Dhaka South City Corporation (DNCC) and one in Mymensingh division. The report further details the distribution of the 1,007 fresh cases: 150 patients were hospitalised in Barishal division, 135 in Chattogram division, 254 in Dhaka division excluding the capital, 142 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 191 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 25 in Khulna division, 61 in Mymensingh division, 41 in Rajshahi division, five in Rangpur division, and three in Sylhet division.
Since the start of the dengue onslaughts, Bangladesh has witnessed 339 deaths, while the disease has inflicted 86,004 individuals this year. Last year, dengue claimed 575 lives and affected 1,01,214 people in the country.
