Three Children Drown in Separate Incidents in Chandpur

Chandpur: Three children drowned in separate incidents in the district today. The deceased were identified as three-year-old Maimuna of Ramdasdi village of Laxmipur Model Union of Sadar upazila, one-and-a-half-year-old Miraj of Sakdi area under Bagadi union of the district, and two-year-old Junaid Hossain of Rajargaon village under Hajiganj upazila in the district.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the incidents occurred in the Sadar, Faridganj, and Hajiganj upazilas, as confirmed by Dr Naser Abul Hasan of Chandpur Government General Hospital.



Maimuna’s family reported that she suddenly went missing before her body was discovered in a pond next to their house. In the case of Junaid, his family was occupied with chores when he disappeared, and later, his body was found floating in a nearby pond.



Meanwhile, Miraj fell into a pond while playing near his home in the morning when no one was watching him, according to his family members. “We began searching for him and eventually found his body floating in the water. Later, he was rushed to the hospital,” they added.



Doctors declared all three children dead upon arrival at the hospital, stated Dr Naser. Separate unnatural death (UD) cases were filed in the respective police stations in these connections.
