Chattogram: The Port Security Department has apprehended three individuals suspected of being involved in the smuggling of imported raisins within the NCT of Chattogram Port. The arrests were made after authorities discovered irregularities involving an unsealed container at the delivery point of the port.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the port secretary Md. Omar Faruk confirmed that the port authority was alerted to the presence of an unassigned container. Members of the National Security Intelligence Service and the security department of the Chattogram Port Authority conducted a thorough search of the area, focusing on a covered van positioned adjacent to the container.
During the operation, officials uncovered 84 cartons of raisins, each weighing 10 kilograms, in the covered van. The port secretary stated that the swift action of the authorities led to the arrest of three individuals, who have since been placed in security custody.
Legal proceedings are currently in progress to address the attempted smuggling, as the port strives to maintain its security measures and prevent similar incidents in the future.
