Dhaka: The interim government’s three young advisers-Mahfuj Alam, Md Nahid Islam, and Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan-met with BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia during the Armed Forces Day reception at Senakunja in Dhaka Cantonment. This meeting marked a significant interaction between the advisers and the veteran political leader.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the advisers, who played crucial roles as coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement that led to the ousting of Sheikh Hasina, were seen exchanging pleasantries with the 79-year-old Khaleda Zia. The event signified a momentous occasion as it was Khaleda Zia’s first appearance at the Armed Forces Day reception in 12 years, with her last attendance being in 2012.
Advisers Nahid Islam and Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan documented the occasion by sharing photos and videos of their interaction with Khaleda Zia on their verified Facebook pages. The event was further highlighted by Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad
Yunus, who also exchanged greetings with the BNP Chairperson.
The reception ceremony was attended by leaders from various political parties, senior government officials, and diplomats, all of whom took the opportunity to exchange greetings with Khaleda Zia. The BNP Chairperson was accompanied by the party’s acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, and 23 other leaders, including Standing Committee members, who were invited to join the event.
