Dinajpur: An awareness campaign on Thalassemia disease was held at Haji Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University in memory of the July uprising martyrs. The event aimed to educate students about the genetic blood disorder and its implications.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the campaign was organized at the university's auditorium-1 by Danesh Blood Bank to raise awareness among students. The event featured Professor of Economics Department Dr. A.T.M. Rezaul Haque as the chief guest, with Assistant Professor Md. Mobinul Islam from the Plant Pathology Department and Dr. Md. Gausur Rahman from the Department of Pathology and Parasitology as special guests.
Executive Director of Bio TED, Dr. Muhammad Saugatul Islam, served as the keynote speaker. Professor Dr. ATM Rezaul Haque emphasized the importance of the program, stating it would help general students become aware of Thalassemia and protect future generations.
Zakir Hossain Raju, President of Danesh Blood Bank, highlighted that Thalassemia is a genetic blood disease with costly treatment. Patients often require one to two bags of blood monthly, making awareness crucial for prevention.
