Thakurgaon:Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin stated that the upcoming Thakurgaon-1 parliamentary by-election will be conducted in a commendable manner, similar to the February-12 national election.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the CEC expressed confidence that the by-election will be appreciated both domestically and internationally, as was the 13th parliamentary election. His remarks were made to reporters after visiting the monitoring cell at Nirbachan Bhaban, which is set up to oversee the Thakurgaon-1 by-election in real-time.
The CEC assured that all necessary measures are in place to ensure the by-election on November 29 is fair. He emphasized that an adequate number of law enforcement personnel will be deployed to maintain order during the election.
The monitoring cell will operate in the same manner as it did during the previous parliamentary election, ensuring that any necessary interventions can be made promptly. Nasir Uddin noted that the overall environment for the election is currently favorable.
According to the election schedule, the deadline for submitting nomination papers expired on Sunday afternoon. The nomination papers will be scrutinized on September 29, and the last date for withdrawing candidacy is October 7, with voting scheduled for October 29 from 8 am to 4 pm.
The Election Commission also held a meeting with law enforcement representatives at Nirbachan Bhaban, chaired by CEC AMM Nasir Uddin, to discuss preparations for the by-election. The CEC reiterated the importance of law enforcement presence to ensure a controlled election environment.
