Dhaka:Teletalk Bangladesh Limited, the nation's only state-owned mobile operator, has officially awarded a contract to ZTE for the procurement of 4G services on the 700MHz band. This initiative aims to expand 4G coverage across Teletalk's network, particularly targeting enhanced service in rural and remote areas.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the award was formalized today when Teletalk Managing Director Nurul Mabud Chowdhury handed over the Notification of Award to ZTE's Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Mao Junyong. The ceremony, attended by Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Faqir Mahbub Anam, took place at the minister's office within the Posts and Telecommunications Division.

The expansion on the 700MHz band is described as a significant step in modernizing Teletalk's network. The deployment is anticipated to create new opportunities for extending mobile coverage in less accessible regions while also enhancing indoor network connections in urban areas. This development is expected to offer customers uninterrupted and improved telecommunications services.

The 700MHz band, due to its lower frequency, possesses the capability for radio signals to travel greater distances and improve indoor connectivity. This property is seen as crucial for advancing reliable mobile connectivity and digital services, especially for those in remote areas. As Teletalk Bangladesh Limited continues to strive for affordable and high-quality telecommunications services, this spectrum deployment is poised to be a key factor in the company's network advancement and technological development.
