A swimming race turned into a tragic event for four teens in Shahartali area of Kushtia today.
One of the friends, Hasan, 15, couldn’t finish the race and went missing.
“When we returned from the other side of the Gorai river, Hasan was nowhere to be found,” said Abdul Ahad, one of Hasan’s friends.
They informed the locals and fire service. His body was recovered at around 4 p.m., four hours after going missing.
He was a resident student of Kamalapur Wajed Ali Nurani Hafijia Madrasah and the son of Rashidul Islam.
Jan-E-Alam, assistant director of Kushtia Fire Service, said as the Kushtia unit has no designated diving team, they had to summon a team from Khulna.
“We continued our search with the help of locals before the team from Khulna arrived,” he said.
