Dhaka: Education Minister Dr. Ehsanul Hoque Milon announced in parliament today that technical trade courses are set to be introduced in 1,000 madrasas across the country in phases. This initiative marks a significant step in modernizing madrasa education by incorporating vocational and profession-oriented subjects into the curriculum.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister made this announcement while responding to a starred tabled question from NCP lawmaker Md. Abul Hasnat, representing Cumilla-4, during the session in the Jatiya Sangsad. The government aims to align madrasa education with contemporary needs by integrating subjects such as science, technology, information technology (IT), and English language studies alongside religious education.
Milon highlighted that a committee under the Technical and Madrasa Education Division has been tasked with updating the madrasa curriculum. This endeavor aligns with the government's election manifesto, which emphasizes the importance of ensuring technical education for all. As part of this vision, technical trade courses will be introduced in every madrasa.
The minister further mentioned that opportunities for technical education have already been established in several madrasas, with vocational courses currently available in 548 institutions. The government plans to expand these technical trade courses to an additional 1,000 madrasa institutions in the near future.
