Dhaka: The technical cooperation agreement on the "Skills Training and Employment Promotion for Women Workers in Bangladesh (ADVANTAGE)" project, with a budget of 8 million Euros (EUR), was signed today between Bangladesh and Germany. The agreement was signed by Md. Shahriar Kader Siddiky, Secretary of the Economic Relations Division (ERD), and Andreas Kuck, Country Director of GIZ (German Corporation for International Cooperation) in Bangladesh, representing the German government. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the ADVANTAGE project aims to improve the economic inclusion of women in Bangladesh by providing them with the necessary skills and support to access employment opportunities, as stated in an ERD press release. The project's key objectives and activities include skills development, promoting employment opportunities, advancing gender equality, capacity building, and collaboration with the private sector. The project will focus on providing vocational and technical training to women, equip ping them with skills relevant to the job market. It aims to enhance the employability of women by connecting them with employment opportunities in both the formal and informal sectors. One of the main goals is to promote gender equality in the workplace by facilitating women's access to sustainable and decent employment, which is anticipated to reduce gender-based disparities. Additionally, the project will involve building the capacity of local institutions and stakeholders to deliver effective training and support for women's employment. Collaboration with the private sector is also a crucial component, aiming to identify labor market needs and ensure that training programs are aligned with industry requirements, thereby increasing the likelihood of employment for women. The collaboration between Bangladesh and Germany on this project reflects their shared commitment to promoting gender equality and women's empowerment in the workforce. By providing the necessary skills and access to employment, the ADVA NTAGE project is expected to significantly improve the livelihoods of women in Bangladesh, contributing to broader economic development goals. The National Skills Development Authority (NSDA) under the Chief Adviser's Office (CAO) of Bangladesh is the implementing authority. Through the ADVANTAGE project, the NSDA is working to ensure that young and disadvantaged women in Bangladesh have better access to high-quality skills training and employment opportunities, contributing to their economic empowerment and gender equality.
