Jahangirnagar university: An integrated security team is being formed through the joint efforts of Jahangirnagar University (JU) and various government agencies located in the surrounding area, aiming to strengthen security measures along the Dhaka-Aricha Highway adjacent to the university.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the decision was made at a coordination meeting of the university’s Security Supervision and Coordination Committee, held today at 11 a.m. in the Senate Hall of the university. The meeting focused on enhancing the overall security system ahead of the upcoming Jahangirnagar University Central Students’ Union (JUCSU) election.
JU Proctor Professor Dr A K M Rashidul Alam presided over the meeting, while Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Kamarul Ahsan, Pro-VC (Academic) Professor Dr M Mahfuzur Rahman, Pro-VC (Administration) Professor Dr Sohel Ahmed, Treasurer Professor Dr M Abdur Rab, acting Registrar A B M Azizur Rahman, Proctorial Body members, and representatives from various nearby institutions including the Bangladesh Public Administration Training Centre (BPATC), Central Cattle Breeding and Dairy Farm, Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute (BLRI), Highway Police, Savar and Ashulia Police Stations, the 9th Infantry Division of Bangladesh Army, and Ansar-VDP, among others, were present.
During the meeting, JU VC Professor Dr Kamrul Ahsan emphasized the challenges posed by the current environment. He stated that, despite the difficulties, mutual cooperation could effectively strengthen the security system. He further proposed creating an integrated group via a messaging platform (WhatsApp) to ensure prompt coordination and communication among the stakeholders.
Representatives from the various government institutions present at the meeting echoed a shared commitment to reinforce the university’s security and pledged their support for joint operations.
