Tarique Rahman’s Return Sparks Massive Celebrations in Dhaka

Dhaka: The city of Dhaka was transformed into a scene of festivity today as Tarique Rahman, the Acting Chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), returned home to an enthusiastic reception from thousands of supporters.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Tarique Rahman’s arrival marked a significant moment in Bangladesh’s political landscape, as the capital became a hub of celebration. From early morning, supporters and party leaders gathered around Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport and the 300-feet road area to welcome him.



Supporters from across the country traveled overnight to participate in the event, filling the surrounding streets and creating a vibrant atmosphere. Party leaders and activists, bearing flags, banners, and placards, assembled along the key thoroughfares to greet Rahman.



The crowd erupted in cheers as Rahman’s plane appeared in the sky, with slogans such as ‘Welcome, welcome, Tarique Rahman welcome!’ echoing through the air. Among the supporters, university student Imran Hossain from Rajshahi expressed his excitement at witnessing history, while Sana Ullah from Kushtia shared his joy at seeing Rahman in person.



Across various locations in Dhaka, processions, music, and chants added to the festive atmosphere. Vendors provided food and water to sustain the supporters, while security forces managed the large gathering.



The city’s entry points, including Sadarghat Terminal and Gabtoli, were also filled with animated supporters, each eager to be part of the celebration. After landing, Rahman attended a public event and addressed the masses, acknowledging their support.



Earlier at the airport, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir led the party’s standing committee members in greeting Rahman upon his return from London. The reception continued as Rahman made his way to the 36 Expressway venue, escorted by a motorcade and welcomed by chants from the crowd.
