Dhaka: BNP acting Chairman Tarique Rahman today extended his greetings and congratulations to the countrymen ahead of the Eid-ul-Azha and urged everyone to share the joy of Eid. In a message, he also wished the Muslims all over the world including Bangladesh for continued happiness and comfort.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Rahman emphasized the significance of Eid-ul-Azha as a festival of sacrifice, highlighting that the primary theme is not the physical offerings but the pure intentions of the heart. He reminded that the festival brings a message of self-purification, satisfaction, and sacrifice.

Rahman acknowledged the challenges faced by the Muslim population due to rising commodity prices and social issues, but expressed that the joy of Eid remains undiminished. He remarked on the relatively relaxed atmosphere in the country following the political changes last year.

Reflecting on the past, Rahman pointed out the decline in societal values during a period he described as marked by fascism and urged collective efforts to eradicate inequality and prevent corruption. He stressed the role of animal sacrifice as a means of purification and a tradition that fosters unity and harmony.

Rahman called for believers to embrace the spirit of sacrifice for human welfare and to strive for the satisfaction of Allah. He noted that Eid-ul-Azha is one of the largest religious festivals for Muslims worldwide, promoting kindness and universal values.

In light of the current economic difficulties, Rahman acknowledged the challenges in celebrating Eid amidst inflation and resource shortages. He urged everyone to ensure no one goes hungry and to share the joy of Eid collectively.

He concluded by wishing for Eid-ul-Azha to bring prosperity, peace, and societal harmony.
