Dhaka: BNP Chairman and Prime Minister-in-waiting Tarique Rahman is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Pir and Islami Andolan Bangladesh (IAB) Ameer Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim on Monday evening. The meeting is planned to take place at the IAB Ameer’s residence at 7 pm, as confirmed by Tarique’s Press Secretary, Saleh Shibly.
According to United News of Bangladesh, this visit follows Tarique Rahman’s recent courtesy calls on Sunday with Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman and National Citizen Party (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam. These meetings came just two days before the BNP’s anticipated formation of the next government, following a significant victory in the national election held on Thursday.
BNP, led by Tarique Rahman, is set to form the next government after winning 209 seats in the election. The Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami secured 68 seats, the National Citizen Party won six seats, and Islami Andolan Bangladesh gained one seat. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan accompanied Tarique during his prior meetings with political leaders.
