Dhaka: BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman today expressed his heartfelt thanks to people from all walks of life for the warm reception accorded to him on his return home after 17 years, calling it an unforgettable moment of his life. In a message to the nation, Tarique Rahman said the love and respect shown by people during his arrival in Dhaka would remain etched in his heart forever.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Tarique Rahman recalled the scenes along the city streets, stating that the prayers, affection, and goodwill of millions of people have given him renewed strength, courage, and hope. He expressed gratitude to BNP leaders, activists, and supporters for standing by him and his family during difficult times, saying their resilience and perseverance have always been a source of inspiration.
The BNP Acting Chairman also thanked members of civil society, youths, professionals, farmers, workers, and citizens from all sections of society, noting that the true strength of Bangladesh lies in the unity of its people. He conveyed sincere appreciation to the media for their professional coverage of his return and acknowledged the role of all concerned, including those responsible for security, for ensuring a calm and peaceful environment during the occasion.
Tarique Rahman further thanked leaders of other political parties and movements who welcomed his homecoming, saying their remarks on democracy, multiparty coexistence, and the people’s will were encouraging. He welcomed calls for nurturing a democratic and peaceful political culture beyond the politics of vengeance.
Referring to his recent address, he said he had spoken not only of a dream but also of a concrete plan for the future of Bangladesh, based on peace, dignity, and security for all communities, where every child can grow up with hope. “This is a plan for all Bangladeshis,” he said, reiterating his vision of a united, inclusive, and forward-looking Bangladesh.
