Pabna: BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has taken full responsibility for two orphaned children, Mariam, 7, and Ismail, 4, of Madarbariya village in Bhangura upazila. They lost their father, Wazed Ali, five years ago and their mother, Azima Khatun, recently passed away, leaving them completely orphaned.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a delegation from “Amra BNP Paribar” visited the remote village around 4:30 pm to meet the children and assess their well-being on behalf of Tarique Rahman. During the visit, Hasan Jafir Tuhin, the BNP-nominated candidate for the Pabna-3 constituency and President of Krishak Dal, handed over cash to the children.

BNP Chairperson’s Special Assistant, Advocate Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, expressed sympathy towards the orphans, stating that following Tarique Rahman’s directive, ‘Amra BNP Paribar’ has stepped in to support the children in this remote village. “May Almighty Allah accept this noble humanitarian act of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman,” he added.

‘Amra BNP Paribar’ Member Secretary, Agriculturalist Moksedul Momin Mithun, announced a monthly educational scholarship for Mariam and Ismail to support their schooling. Key figures such as Member Secretary of Pabna District BNP Advocate Maksudur Rahman Masud Khondaker, General Secretary of Pabna Press Club Zahurul Islam, Dhaka South City BNP member Arifa Sultana Ruma, and Jatiya Press Club Managing Committee member Jahidul Islam Rony were present on the occasion.

The children’s father, Wazed Ali, died of a stroke, leaving their mother, Azima Khatun, to manage the household until her recent death. The children were left in dire conditions, living in a dilapidated home. Their story was highlighted on October 30 in Amar Desh online and gained widespread attention on social media. Tarique Rahman, moved by their plight, instructed ‘Amra BNP Paribar’ to provide financial and educational support to Mariam and Ismail.
