Dhaka: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman today extended greetings and warm congratulations to all the Buddhists in Bangladesh as well as elsewhere in the world on the occasion of Buddha Purnima. In a message on this significant religious festival, he highlighted the teachings of great Gautam Buddha as an eternal voice of non-violence, justice, and equality.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Rahman emphasized Buddha’s teachings that advocate self-victory and self-establishment. He noted that Buddha Purnima is considered the most sacred festival for Buddhists, celebrated on the full moon day of the month of Baishakh. Rahman pointed out that Gautam Buddha was born on this day, making it significant as three pivotal events in Buddha’s life occurred on this full moon day.

Buddha Purnima marks the birth of Gautam Buddha, his attainment of Buddhahood, and his Mahaparinirvana. Rahman mentioned that Buddha achieved infinite knowledge by surpassing the level of ego, further underscoring the profound impact of his teachings.
