Barguna: BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has reached out to the family of a young rape victim in Barguna, offering financial support and essential supplies. The family is grappling with the dual tragedy of the daughter’s assault and the murder of her father, who was seeking justice for the crime.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the seventh grader was raped, and her father was killed after pursuing legal action with Barguna Sadar police. Tarique Rahman assured the victim’s family that the BNP stands in solidarity with them, committed to assisting their quest for justice. In a phone conversation with the victim’s mother, he pledged the party’s support and reassured her of their commitment to aid the family.
The mother of the victim expressed her fears and uncertainties following her husband’s murder, who was the family’s sole provider. She voiced concerns over her family’s future, their safety, and their ability to sustain themselves.
Tarique Rahman has instructed senior party leaders to visit the family and assess their needs, promising legal and other forms of assistance. He emphasized the party’s dedication to ensuring justice and alleviating the family’s burdens.
The victim’s mother has called for a swift trial for both the rapist and her husband’s murderer. In a gesture of support, central leaders of the Chhatra Dal delivered aid to the family on behalf of Tarique Rahman. Key figures present included BNP Central Committee Assistant Labor Affairs Secretary Firoz Uz-Zaman and other prominent party members.
The deceased, employed at a local chicken shop, left behind a family of six, including three young daughters. The family resides in a modest wooden and tin-roof house, reflecting their difficult living conditions.
The victim’s mother recounted the events leading to her husband’s death, expressing suspicion that relatives of the accused in the rape case were responsible. The attack on her daughter occurred after she attended a tuition class, with the assailants later abandoning her near a local office.
The father, after filing a rape case, was found dead, prompting a murder investigation by the authorities. The police have made several arrests, including the father of the primary suspect in the rape case, as the family continues to seek justice amidst their profound loss.
