Dhaka: BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has expressed deep grief over the death of Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of Inqilab Moncho and Dhaka-8 independent aspirant, who succumbed to injuries sustained after armed assailants opened fire on him in the capital’s Paltan area on December 12.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, in a post on his verified Facebook page, Tarique Rahman stated, “I am deeply saddened by the tragic killing of Sharif Osman Hadi. May Allah grant forgiveness to his soul. This untimely death is a grave reminder of the human cost of political violence.”

He described Hadi as a political activist and a voice who consistently stood against injustice. After the July Mass Uprising, as the spokesperson of Inqilab Moncho, Hadi played a role in defending the rights of the July fighters, upholding democratic values, and protecting national interests.

The BNP Acting Chairman offered his condolences to the bereaved family, loved ones, and fellow activists. Rahman called upon the interim government to conduct a swift investigation, with the utmost priority, to ensure that the perpetrators are apprehended, punished, and justice is served.

He emphasized the need to safeguard every citizen and prevent incidents that aim to destabilize Bangladesh and undermine democratic aspirations.
