Dhaka: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today stated that the party’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman is driven by a vision supported by practical ideas aimed at enhancing the country’s political landscape, economic stability, and development across various sectors. Alamgir expressed that Rahman’s aspirations for the economy and politics remind him of Martin Luther King’s iconic declaration, ‘I have a dream.’

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Alamgir drew parallels between Rahman’s vision and historical efforts towards progress, asserting the importance of pursuing such dreams for the nation’s advancement. He emphasized that the path laid out by Tarique Rahman embodies a collective ambition to move forward and achieve success. The BNP secretary general shared these thoughts during a discussion organized by BNP’s youth wing, Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal, marking the first anniversary of the July Uprising at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) auditorium in the capital.

Alamgir reflected on the recurring responsibility that falls on the BNP to rebuild the nation whenever it faces destruction, particularly in economic terms. He noted that the current situation might once again necessitate BNP’s intervention to address these challenges. During the discussion titled ‘Anti-Fascist Movement: My Unspoken Words,’ Alamgir highlighted the need for resilience in the face of conspiracies aimed at destabilizing the country’s democratic progress.

He affirmed that as long as BNP, Jubo Dal, and Chhatra Dal exist, they will safeguard democracy from any force seeking its downfall. Alamgir also recounted the success stories of previous BNP-led governments, particularly during the era of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, and urged collective determination to propel the country forward.
