Dhaka: On behalf of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, a delegation from 'Amra BNP Paribar' visited Radio artist Afroza Nizami in the PC Culture Housing area of Shyamoli. The delegation aimed to show support to Nizami, whose contribution to radio advertising and drama in the 1990s left a lasting impression.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the issue garnered Tarique Rahman's attention following a report by Prothom Alo highlighting Afroza Nizami's significant role in the radio industry. In response, Rahman instructed Atiqur Rahman Rumen, Convener of Amra BNP Poribar, to provide assistance to the esteemed artist.
During the visit, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General and Chief Advisor of Amra BNP Poribar Ruhul Kabir Rizvi attended as the Chief Guest. The delegation provided a special medical assistance fund to Nizami, delivering Tarique Rahman's message of sympathy and commitment to ongoing support.
Afroza Nizami's voice was widely recognized for its presence in advertisements and radio dramas, shaping the radio experience for many listeners. Her contributions remain a cherished memory for those who grew up during that era.
Post-visit, Rizvi addressed the media, expressing aspirations for a new Bangladesh inspired by the July Uprising. He emphasized the importance of free expression and security, reflecting the core spirit of the uprising. Rizvi also discussed the BNP's stance on the July National Charter, advocating for its principles to be clearly communicated to the public.
Rizvi further accused the Awami League of instigating unrest in the country with financial support from India, alleging attempts to create a chaotic environment. He called for fair trials concerning past political violence and criticized the current government's handling of the situation, attributing ongoing violence to the ruling party's failure to curb fascism from the outset.
