Sharjah: Riding on a half-century by opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Bangladesh posted a robust total of 205-5 in the second T20 International against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) at Sharjah Cricket Stadium. A win in this match will secure Bangladesh an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Tanzid spearheaded the innings with a quickfire 59 off 33 deliveries, featuring eight fours and three sixes. Towhid Hridoy contributed a brisk 45 from 24 balls, while captain Liton Das added 40 off 32 balls. Najmul Hossain Shanto, playing his first match in the series, scored 27 off 19 balls.

Bangladesh got off to a flying start after UAE captain Muhammad Waseem opted to field first. Tanzid achieved his fourth T20 fifty in the initial power play, a rare milestone for a Bangladeshi batter. He reached fifty in just 25 balls, executing a slog-sweep for six over deep square leg off Haider Ali. After reaching his fifty, Tanzid slowed slightly, adding nine more runs in seven balls before being dismissed by debutant Saghir Khan.

When Tanzid was dismissed as the first batter, Bangladesh had already amassed 90 runs in nine overs. Shanto and Liton maintained the momentum, with the skipper departing for 40 after hitting three fours and a six. Towhid Hridoy continued the aggressive batting, supported by cameo performances from Shanto and Jaker Ali, ensuring Bangladesh surpassed the 200-run mark comfortably.

Muhammad Jawadullah claimed the wickets of Shanto and Jaker, while Saghir Khan dismissed Hridoy with a return catch in the penultimate over. Hridoy’s innings included three fours and two sixes. Jawadullah, who took four wickets in the first match, finished with figures of 3-54, while Saghir Khan returned 2-36.
