Dhaka: Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milon has expressed hope that Bangladesh will emerge as a leading nation in the world, driven by its talented young generation. "Our greatest asset is our talented youth. We have to build Bangladesh of tomorrow by inspiring them with morality, ideals and patriotism," he said.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister made these remarks while addressing a reception for meritorious students who secured GPA-5 in the 2025 SSC and HSC examinations at the International Mother Language Institute auditorium in Segunbagicha this morning. The event was organised by the Special Events Department of Bangladesh Scouts, where 580 meritorious Scouts and Rover Scouts were honoured with medals, congratulatory certificates, and a cash prize of Tk 2,000 each.
Congratulating the students, Milon emphasized the importance of recognizing and encouraging meritorious students. He mentioned that the government has undertaken major reforms and increased budgetary allocation in the education sector. Referring to government initiatives to expand scouting, the minister said separate schemes and additional allocations had been planned for Cubs, Scouts, Girl Guides, and Rovers following the Prime Minister's directives.
Milon highlighted the government's focus on moral education from the primary level to build a drug-free and discrimination-free society. "Sports, culture, ethics, and values are being incorporated into the curriculum from Class Four, while technical education and joyful learning will be introduced from Class Six," he added. The minister also pointed out initiatives including a football tournament involving 22 lakh primary students, free distribution of school uniforms, and the introduction of mid-day meals.
Praising the role of scouting in promoting discipline, leadership, and public service, Milon noted that Scouts had demonstrated exceptional courage and sacrifice during recent student movements. He urged students to respect their teachers and parents, and to uphold honesty and integrity in both academic life and their personal conduct.
The event was chaired by Bangladesh Scouts Chief National Commissioner and Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister A B M Abdus Sattar. Prime Minister's Education and Primary and Mass Education Adviser Dr Mahdi Amin and Cabinet Secretary and Bangladesh Scouts President Nasimul Ghani attended the event as special guests. Senior government officials, including senior secretaries and secretaries of various ministries, also spoke at the event.
