Petrovac: FIDE Master Tahsin Tajwar Zia shared the third position along with nine other players and secured five points after the seventh round in the World Junior (Under-20 Years) Chess Championship currently being held in Petrovac, Montenegro. International Master Manon Reja Neer collected 3.5 points.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the seventh round matches were held on Monday, with FIDE Master Tahsin Tajwar Zia achieving victory over International Master Talibov Shiroghlan of Azerbaijan. Tahsin played with the black pieces in a Queen's Gambit Declined game. International Master Talibov Shiroghlan made three consecutive weak moves on moves 27, 28, and 29, which allowed FIDE Master Tahsin Tajwar Zia to secure a win in 30 moves.
In another match, International Master Manon Reja Neer split the point with FIDE Master Djurovic Peko of Montenegro. Neer, playing with the black pieces, opted for the Caro-Kann defense. The game advanced through the Panov attack system and concluded in a draw after 43 moves.
The eighth-round games are scheduled to be held this evening from 8 PM Bangladesh time. In the upcoming matches, FIDE Master Tahsin Tajwar Zia is set to face International Master Galaviz Medina Sion Radamantys, while International Master Manon Reja Neer will compete against FIDE Master Krivenko Dion of Estonia.
