Dhaka: FIDE Master (FM) Tahsin Tajwar Zia of Bangladesh achieved a commendable fourth place in the Rudar XXXIV Grandmaster (GM) Round-Robin Chess Tournament held in Serbia. FM Tahsin garnered 5.5 points out of nine games, initially tying for third place, but ultimately placing fourth due to the tie-breaking system.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the tournament concluded with FM Tahsin defeating GM Mikhail Bryakin of Serbia in the ninth and final round held last Thursday. In the preceding eighth round, FM Tahsin secured a victory against FIDE Master Artem Postnikov of Serbia.
The championship title was claimed by International Master (IM) Sathvik Adiga of India, who scored 6.5 points. The tournament featured a diverse array of talent, with ten participants including three grandmasters, two International Masters, and five FIDE Masters representing countries such as Bangladesh, Belgium, Bulgaria, India, Montenegro, Russia, Serbia, and Ukraine. The competition was organized in a round-robin league format.
