T20 World Cup: India lose 3 early wickets chasing arch-rival Pakistan’s 160 runs

Pursuing 160 against Pakistan in their first match of the T20 World Cup 2022, India lost three early wickets today in Melbourne.

 

Pakistan batted first after losing the toss. Shan Masood and Iftikhar Ahmed hit a fifty each.

 

Apart from them, none of the other Pakistan batters was able to offer some challenge to Indian bowlers.

 

Babar Azam scored a duck while playing a straight delivery from Arshdeep Singh who also sent back the other opener Rizwan Ahmed for only four. It was a rare failure from both Pakistani openers.

 

For India, Arshdeep and Hardik Pandya bagged three wickets. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami took one wicket each.

In reply, India lost three wickets inside the powerplay. The openers, Lokesh Rahul and Lokesh Sharma, scored four each.

 

Naseem Shah scalped Rahul while Haris Rauf took the wicket of Rohit. Haris also scalped the wicket of Surya Kumar who started very well but failed to continue on that.

 

At the end of powerplay, India were batting at 31 for three.
