Khulna: Amite Hasan continued his rich vein of form in the ongoing National Cricket League (NCL) and helped Sylhet close in on a victory against Dhaka Metro in their fifth round game today at Khulna Stadium. Amite, who hammered a double century in the previous game, this time hit 101 as Sylhet were wrapped up for 376, taking a 246-run lead in the first innings. Metro, who were bowled out for just 130 in the first innings, reached 49-4 at stumps. They still need 197 runs to make Sylhet bat for the second time in the match. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, resuming the day at 137-2, in-form Amite led the side astutely to further strengthen his case for a national call-up. After Amite's dismissal, Asadulla Galib, who also hit a century in the previous match, scored 56. Amite and Mubin Hasan Dishan, who made 43, added 106 runs for the third wicket to lay a good platform for the side. Later, Galib and Tofael Ahmed (47 not out) helped the side propel past the 350-run mark. Arif Ahmed claimed 4-77 for Met ro while Abu Haider Rony grabbed 3-103. Fast bowlers Syed Khaled Ahmed and Rejaur Rahman Raja bagged two wickets each to derail Metro in the second innings and helped Sylhet edge closer to victory.
