Dhaka: Swedish Ambassador to Bangladesh Reto Renggli today paid a courtesy call on Road Transport and Bridges, Railways and Shipping Minister Sheikh Robiul Alam at his office at Bangladesh Secretariat. Secretary to the Road Transport and Highways Division Dr. Mohammad Ziaul Haque was present at the meeting.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, during the meeting, the Swiss Ambassador congratulated the current government for its formation with robust public support and conveyed his best wishes. He expressed interest in further cementing bilateral relations grounded in mutual interests and cooperation between Switzerland and Bangladesh. The ambassador emphasized the enduring friendly relations between the two nations and expressed Switzerland’s eagerness to further these bonds.
The envoy pointed out opportunities for collaboration in Bangladesh’s infrastructure development, technology sector, port management, and various development projects. He conveyed Switzerland’s interest in maintaining cooperation in these areas through partnership and assured the necessary support.
Minister Sheikh Robiul Alam welcomed the ambassador and highlighted Bangladesh’s swift progress in development and infrastructure sectors. He stressed that international partner cooperation is vital for sustaining this progress. The minister expressed optimism that both countries would collaborate to enhance infrastructure development, technology transfer, port management, and foreign investment.
He further added that collaboration with friendly nations like Switzerland would expedite the execution of various development initiatives in Bangladesh. At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed their aspiration to continue communication and cooperation to further strengthen Bangladesh-Switzerland relations in the future.
