Dhaka: Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon has emphasized the importance of the younger generation gaining a comprehensive understanding of the country's political and social structures, trends, and historical context alongside nurturing a sense of patriotism. Speaking at a book launch event held at Bangla Academy, Swapon highlighted that a grasp of historical and political contexts is crucial for evaluating creative works effectively.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event marked the launch of the first book by renowned vocalist and researcher Dr. Anima Roy, titled 'Patriotic Consciousness in the Songs of the Five Lyric Poets' (Panchagitikobir Gane Swadeshchetana), published by Bangla Academy. The ceremony was hosted by the cultural and musical organization Surbihar and featured State Minister for Cultural Affairs Ali Newaz Mahmood Khyom as the special guest.
Prominent figures such as Bangla Academy Director General Prof Mohammad Azam, Head of Department at the Government Music College Dr. Kamal Khalid, and researcher Farzana Rashid Brownia also addressed the audience. Swapon, quoting Kahlil Gibran's 'The Prophet,' remarked on the universal nature of love, whether it be for one's country, humanity, nature, or God, and noted the common confusion among listeners in distinguishing different forms of love in songs.
