Dhaka: Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan has emphasized the necessity of ensuring the accurate, precise, and responsible dissemination of information while maintaining a rapid flow of information. He shared these insights during an iftar program organized by the BCS Information Association at Tathya Bhaban in the capital today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Swapan highlighted that information is a form of power, and it is the core responsibility of the information cadre to manage and deliver this power effectively to the people. The event was also graced by the presence of Mahbuba Farzana, the Secretary of the Information and Broadcasting Ministry, who attended as the special guest.
The minister underscored the importance of providing prompt, fact-based responses to combat fake news, rumors, and propaganda. He asserted that the Ministry of Information should operate like a device where the soft content and soft power of information are crucially installed.
Furthermore, Swapan instructed the officials of the information cadre, who act as the government’s spokespersons, to ensure that news about the government’s key commitments and their implementation reaches every corner of the country.
