Suspected Smuggler Held in Khulna with Gold, Diamond Jewellery

Khulna: Police arrested a man with a large quantity of gold and diamond jewellery in Khulna. The arrested man was identified as Md Saidul, 46, a resident of Muradnagar upazila in Cumilla, according to a press release issued by the KMP on Friday night. He currently lives in the Ambagicha Khalpar area of Keraniganj in Dhaka.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Harintana Police Station Officer-in-Charge Helal Uddin stated that a team from the police station arrested Md Saidul around noon on Friday. The arrest took place during a routine check in front of Janani Enterprise near the Zero Point intersection on the Khulna-Satkhira highway. The police recovered three gold chains, a diamond-studded gold locket, 45 diamond-studded gold nose pins, 12 pairs of earrings, eight lockets, three rings, and two bracelets from his possession.



A case has been filed against Saidul with Harintana Police Station under Sections 25(B) and 25(D) of the Special Powers Act, 1974. The police have initiated an investigation to determine if the recovered jewellery was brought into the country through smuggling channels.
