Dhaka: Senior Secretary of the Land Ministry ASM Saleh Ahmed emphasized the crucial role of surveyors in land services, acknowledging them as key personnel responsible for conducting land surveys. In a statement during a reception for newly appointed surveyors at Bhumi Bhaban, Ahmed highlighted the importance of accurate land surveys for proper land use, preservation, and ownership determination.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the reception and cultural function, organized by the Bangladesh Management Surveyors Association, celebrated the recruitment of 205 new surveyors for the land department, with 196 joining the service today. The new recruits will undergo a six-week training program at the Land Administration Centre starting tomorrow.
Ahmed elaborated on the significance of surveyors in resolving land disputes, as they are tasked with measuring and determining land locations and boundaries through map drawing. He stressed that surveyors play a vital role in ensuring the accountability and effectiveness of land administration.
The Senior Secretary also highlighted the digitization of the entire land administration, which has expedited the work of surveyors as part of the initiative to build a digital Bangladesh. The event was presided over by President of Bangladesh Management Surveyors Association Mohammad Shamiul Islam Shamim, with special guest Chairman of the Land Reforms Board AJM Salahuddin Nagri. Other notable attendees included Dr. Mahmud Hassan, Chairman of the Land Appeal Board, Saidur Rahman, Director General of the Land Records and Survey Directorate, and Additional Secretaries Shariful Islam, Mahfuzur Rahman, and Endadul Haque.
