Dhaka: More than 16 lakh taxpayers have already filed their income tax returns through online this year while more than 20 lakh taxpayers have completed registration for e-returns. The online income tax return filing system by the National Board of Revenue (NBR) has received a huge response from the taxpayers.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, based on the demands and opinions from the taxpayers, the online return filing process has been gradually simplified and made more taxpayer-friendly. As a result, there has been a significant hike in return submission and registration through online, stated an NBR press release. The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has continued to operate the online income tax return filing service even after the Income Tax Day.
Additionally, if any mistake is noticed by the taxpayer in the return submissions after filing, the individual can easily file a revised return through online, even while staying at home. This is possible under section 180(2) of the Income Tax Act-2023, within 180 days of filing the original return. To date, some 7,225 taxpayers have filed their revised returns online.
The Revenue Board has expressed gratitude to the taxpayers who filed their income tax returns through online and encourages them to continue availing online services for filing income tax returns and obtaining income tax certificates.
