Narayanganj: Education Adviser Prof Dr Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar today highlighted the pivotal role played by the student community in achieving liberty through the July mass upsurge. He addressed a gathering at Gakul Dasherbagh under Bandar upazila, emphasizing the historical significance of the student-led movement.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr Abrar remarked, "We had no rights in our own country and became subjects of the nation." He outlined his vision for a morally and humanely grounded education system, which he believes will empower students to become a skilled workforce. Dr Abrar underscored the importance of prioritizing technology-based education to align with global standards and the job market. He emphasized the need to modernize the existing Madrasha education system with a technology-based approach.
Recalling the anti-discrimination movement's contributions, Prof Rafiqul Abrar declared, "July is our pride as we have got back our rights through the July upsurge." He noted that the government has instructed educational institutions to organize programs to commemorate the July movement and honor the martyrs. Dr Abrar urged everyone to support those injured in the movement and stressed that the state has been doing its utmost for the July warriors. He called on people from all walks of life to support the families of the martyrs and injured individuals.
Dr Abrar expressed hope that future democratic governments would reform society to fulfill the dreams of the common people. The function was attended by notable figures including the Deputy Commissioner of Narayanganj, Mohammad Zahidul Islam Miah, and Police Super Prottus Kumar Majumder.
