Student Dies After Scarf Entangles in Rickshaw Wheel in Jhenaidah

Jhenaidah: A 23-year-old college student tragically lost her life on Sunday afternoon when her scarf became entangled in the wheel of a battery-run rickshaw in Jhenaidah Sadar upazila. The victim, Sumaiya Khatun, was a fourth-year honours student of Mathematics at Jhenaidah Keshab Chandra College. She was the daughter of Hafizur Rahman from Kulbaria village in Harinakundu upazila.



According to United News of Bangladesh, the incident occurred while Sumaiya and her husband were returning home after visiting Akkaach Lakeview Park in the Badarganj area of Chuadanga Sadar upazila. They were traveling by an easybike, a common mode of transport in the region. As they reached Borai, Sumaiya’s scarf became caught in the vehicle’s wheel, leading to her falling onto the road with her infant child.



Sumaiya was immediately taken to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital, where the emergency department doctors declared her dead. Jhenaidah Highway Police Officer-in-Charge Mrityunjoy Biswas stated that due to the absence of a complaint from the family, the body was handed over to her relatives on Sunday evening.
