Dhaka: Stocks today extended its losing streak as the risk-averse investors preferred to book profit on quick-gaining shares. DSEX, the broad index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) declined by 33.6 points or 0.6% to settle at 5,298 points as against 5,332 points in the previous trading session.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, on the sectoral front, Bank issues accounted for the highest turnover at 29.6%, followed by Textile at 9.7% and General Insurance at 9.5%. Most sectors displayed negative returns, with Life Insurance, Paper, and Telecommunication showing the most corrections, declining by 2.5%, 1.5%, and 1.5% respectively.
Out of the 397 issues traded, 81 advanced, 248 declined, and 68 remained unchanged. The port city bourse, CSE, also witnessed a profit-booking session today. The Selective Categories' Index (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) declined by 34.1 and 65.5 points, respectively.
