New york: Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain announced that the government will take appropriate action concerning a recent politically motivated assault on political leaders after their return to Bangladesh from the United States.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, four advisers and political leaders convened to discuss the situation following the assault incident. Md Touhid Hossain disclosed this information during a response to a question from a non-resident Bangladeshi at an event titled "NRB Connect Day: Empowering Global Bangladeshis," held at the New York Marriott Marquis in Manhattan.
The assault reportedly involved supporters of ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who targeted political leaders accompanying Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus during his US tour. The incident occurred outside John F Kennedy International Airport on September 22. Chief Adviser Prof Yunus also participated in the event as the keynote speaker.
Notable attendees at the function included BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, BNP leader Humayun Kabir, Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb-e-Ameer Syeed Abdullah Muhammad Taher, Jamaat leader Mohammad Nakibur Rahman, National Citizen Party (NCP) Member Secretary Akhter Hossen, and NCP First Senior Joint Member Secretary Dr Tasnim Jara.
