Dhaka:State Minister for Youth and Sports Md. Aminul Haque emphasized the importance of sports in preventing mobile addiction among children and fostering a disciplined society. He made these remarks during the inauguration of the second Junior Karate Championship at the Mirpur Indoor Stadium.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the championship sees participation from 1,302 athletes representing 79 teams, marking its return after a 15-year hiatus. The State Minister stressed the need for engaging children in sports, noting their natural interest but pointing out the lack of adequate opportunities and environments for participation.

Md. Aminul Haque advocated for creating a conducive sporting environment in every family and community, suggesting that this would encourage children to value sports alongside their studies. He believes this approach will aid in reducing mobile addiction and promoting healthier, more fulfilling lifestyles for children.

The State Minister also highlighted that karate, beyond being a sport, teaches self-defence and contributes significantly to building a disciplined society. The event was attended by Karate Federation president Engineer Abdus Subhan, general secretary Syed Nuruzzaman, and other officials.
