Dhaka:State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr. MA Muhit has proposed the initial implementation of a cardiac ambulance network and ambulance pool in Dhaka and surrounding districts to decrease the mortality rate from heart disease.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Muhit emphasized the critical nature of the 'golden hour' for heart patients and suggested that a cardiac ambulance network could be established through private initiatives, initially covering Dhaka and at least five neighboring districts. This initiative would ensure rapid hospital access for patients.
Dr. Muhit proposed that after one year, data and insights from a pilot program could inform the establishment of a nationwide ambulance pool. He made these remarks as the chief guest at a program organized at Popular Medical College Hospital in the capital, in conjunction with World Heart Day and the first anniversary of Popular Cath Lab.
Highlighting the government's commitment, Dr. Muhit noted that strengthening emergency ambulance services is a pledge outlined in the government's election manifesto. He stated that an integrated and effective ambulance network could significantly reduce emergency response times, potentially saving many lives.
The state minister also urged doctors to enhance their communication skills with patients and their families to meet public healthcare expectations. Proper explanation of situations and treatment plans could minimize misunderstandings and regrets.
The event was presided over by Professor Dr. AKM Mohiuddin Bhuiyan (Masum) of Popular Medical College and Hospital. It was attended by notable figures such as DGHS Director General Professor Dr. Pravath Chandra Biswas, DGME DG Professor Dr. Nazmul Hosain, DGHS Additional DG Professor Dr. Foara Tasmim, and the Prime Minister's Assistant Personal Physician and cardiologist Dr. ANM Monowarul Kadir.
