Dhaka: Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations are scheduled to commence on January 7, while the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and its equivalent examinations are set to start on June 6 next year. Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon announced the examination schedule during a press conference held on Thursday.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the minister disclosed that the SSC and its equivalent examinations would wrap up on February 6, whereas the HSC and its equivalent examinations are expected to conclude on July 13 of the following year. Highlighting the significance of these public examinations, he noted that about 20 lakh students participate in both the SSC and HSC exams, making the education and future of these 40 lakh students crucial.

The education minister emphasized efforts to streamline the academic system to minimize the waiting period between examinations. “We are trying to synchronise the system in a way that gradually closes the gap where students lose nearly a year waiting for the SSC examinations and another year waiting for the HSC examinations,” Milon stated. He added that the goal is to establish December as the end of the academic year and the examination month.

This year, the HSC examinations are set to begin on July 2. Addressing queries about the publication of results, the minister recalled that in 2001, he set a two-month timeframe for releasing results, which is still adhered to. However, with advancements in the system, efforts are being made to further reduce this period.

The minister further clarified that the aim is to eliminate delays between the announcement of results and the commencement of the admission process, ensuring students can proceed with their admissions immediately after results are declared.
