Dhaka: The results of this year's Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations were published at 10 am today, revealing a pass rate of 62.25 percent across the country's 11 education boards, with 1,16,676 students achieving GPA-5. Last year, the pass rate was higher at 68.45 percent. Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon officially released the results during a press conference at the Secretariat.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the results were made available on the websites of all education boards, respective educational institutions, and via SMS from 10:00 am. Prof Syed Akhtaruzzaman, president of the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee and chairman of Dhaka Education Board, detailed the results at the press conference.
A total of 18,29,485 candidates participated in the examinations this year under the country's nine general education boards, Madrasa Education Board, and Technical Education Board. Of these, 11,38,877 students passed. Among those who passed, 5,30,938 were boys, and 6,07,939 were girls. The number of students achieving GPA-5 decreased from 1,39,032 last year to 1,16,676 this year.
In the nine general education boards, 14,04,539 students appeared for the exams, with 8,99,610 passing, resulting in a pass rate of 64.05 percent. Of those who passed, 3,95,814 were boys, and 5,03,796 were girls. A total of 1,06,009 students achieved GPA-5.
The Madrasa Education Board saw 1,64,797 candidates out of 2,96,982 passing the Dakhil examination, with a pass rate of 55.49 percent and 6,716 achieving GPA-5. Meanwhile, under the Technical Education Board, 74,470 candidates out of 1,27,964 passed the SSC and Dakhil (Vocational) examinations, resulting in a pass rate of 58.2 percent.
Dhaka Education Board led with a pass rate of 71.63 percent, with 33,253 students achieving GPA-5. Other boards reported varied results: Rajshahi Board had a pass rate of 63.67 percent with 22,327 GPA-5 achievers, Jashore Board had a 66.27 percent pass rate with 11,478 GPA-5 achievers, and Sylhet Board recorded a 58.33 percent pass rate with 3,836 GPA-5 achievers.
In the general education boards, the science group had the highest pass rate of 80.64 percent, with 4,57,188 examinees passing. The humanities group saw a pass rate of 48.74 percent, with 3,11,174 passing, and the business education group recorded a 64.29 percent pass rate with 1,41,248 passing.
Prime Minister's Education Adviser Dr Mahdi Amin, Secondary and Higher Education Division Secretary Md Abdul Khaleque, and chairmen of different education boards were present at the press conference.
