Dhaka: The results of this year's Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations were released on Monday, revealing a decline in the average pass rate to 62.25 percent. Education Minister Dr. Ehsanul Haque Milon announced the results during a press briefing at the Secondary and Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education at around 10 am.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the pass rate has decreased compared to the previous year. In the last year's SSC and equivalent examinations conducted by 11 education boards, the average pass rate was 68.45 percent. This year, the rate has dropped by 6.2 percentage points. The SSC and equivalent exams took place from April 21 to May 20.
A total of 18,29,485 students registered for the exams, including 9,11,791 female students and 9,17,694 male students. Once again, female students outperformed their male peers, achieving a pass rate of 66.68 percent compared to 57.86 percent for male students. This marks the 11th consecutive year that girls have led in SSC pass rates.
This year, 1,16,676 students obtained GPA-5 across all boards, down by 22,356 from last year's 1,39,032. In the Dakhil examinations under the Bangladesh Madrasah Education Board, the pass rate stands at 55.49 percent, with 6,716 students securing GPA-5 nationwide. A total of 1,64,797 students passed the examination under this board, out of 2,96,982 candidates.
For the SSC Vocational and Dakhil Vocational examinations under the Technical Education Board, the pass rate was 58.20 percent, with 3,951 students achieving GPA-5. A total of 1,27,964 candidates appeared for the exams under this board. The examinations were conducted at 3,883 centers across the country.
Students can access their results online through the respective education board websites, from their educational institutions, and via SMS following the official publication. To receive results via SMS under the general education boards, candidates should type SSC, followed by a space, the first three letters of their board name, another space, their roll number, another space, and the examination year, then send the message to 16222. Results are also accessible online through www.educationboardresults.gov.bd by entering the candidate's roll and registration numbers. Educational institutions can download detailed result sheets by entering their EIIN numbers on www.dhakaeducationboard.gov.bd.
