Chattogram: Liberation War Affairs Adviser Farooq-e-Azam, Bir Pratik, has articulated that sports are not merely a form of entertainment but are indeed the lifeblood of a nation. He emphasized the significance of organizing sports events with youth participation to deter them from engaging in drugs, terrorism, and anti-social activities.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the adviser expressed these views as the chief guest at a view-exchange meeting with the Chattogram Metropolitan Sports Association, held at the Circuit House conference room. Farooq-e-Azam highlighted that the Metropolitan Sports Arena serves as more than just a playground; it is a crucial hub for nurturing the aspirations of the youth.

‘Participants in sports gain more than just experiences of victory or defeat; they acquire essential life lessons,’ he remarked. ‘Through sports, young people learn patience, compassion, and dedication, which significantly contribute to their success in both personal and social spheres.’

He also addressed the growing concern of mobile addiction among youths, advocating for greater involvement in sports as a means to enhance health and set positive examples within society. The adviser further underscored the significant role of sports in promoting physical, mental, and social development among children and adolescents from marginalized communities.

Farooq-e-Azam called for strengthened collaboration between the government, local administration, and sports organizations to engage more youths in sports-related activities. The meeting saw attendance from officials of various government departments, representatives from sports organizations, and journalists from both print and electronic media.
