Bhola: A speech-impaired housewife was allegedly gang-raped by young men while returning home from a devotional song program in Tajumuddin upazila of Bhola district. The 25-year-old woman, a mother of one, is currently receiving treatment at Bhola Sadar Hospital.
According to United News of Bangladesh, family members reported that the woman attended a devotional song event at Anil Sadhu Temple in Golokpur village on Sunday. Around 9 pm, she took a battery-run auto-rickshaw to return home. During the journey, the driver and two other individuals allegedly took her to a garden near Dhopabari and assaulted her.
Local residents found the woman and brought her to Tajumuddin Upazila Health Complex on Monday morning. She was later transferred to Sadar Hospital for further care. Abdus Salam, officer-in-charge of Tajumuddin Police Station, stated that efforts are underway to apprehend the suspects, and a case will be filed once the woman recovers.
