Dhaka:More than 6,000 members of the Special Response Battalion (SRB) have been deployed across the country to ensure security during Durga Puja, with 2,457 personnel assigned to special security duties every day.

According to United News of Bangladesh, SRB Director General Additional Inspector General of Police Md Ahsan Habib Palash shared this information while speaking to journalists after inspecting security arrangements at Mirpur Central Temple in Dhaka.

Special security measures have been implemented to ensure the safety of the Hindu community during the festival. Over 31,000 puja mandaps have been set up nationwide for the celebration. SRB personnel are stationed at these mandaps to handle any potential issues.

The SRB has launched a special nationwide security plan from October 13 to October 22. Security patrols are conducted daily using 549 pickups and 447 motorcycles. Although no sabotage threats have been reported, dog squads and bomb disposal teams are on standby to respond to any incidents.

The use of technology is a significant part of the security strategy, including monitoring through the 'Sharadiya Surokkha App' and regular checks on CCTV cameras installed at puja mandaps. The SRB's cyber monitoring team is also actively surveilling social media to prevent the spread of misinformation.

Efforts to ensure the safety of female visitors and prevent sexual harassment are in place. Special patrols are planned for idol transportation and immersion on Bijoya Dashami on October 21.

The SRB is collaborating with other law enforcement agencies to ensure that the festival is celebrated peacefully and joyfully.
