Dhaka:No specific information has been found regarding any sabotage or extremist attack targeting the ongoing Durga Puja celebrations. However, the Special Response Battalion (SRB) has deployed approximately 6,000 members daily across the country to ensure the festival's security.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Director General of the SRB, Additional Inspector General of Police Md Ahsan Habib Palash, made this announcement while visiting the Dhakeshwari National Temple in Dhaka. He stated that the elite force has implemented special security measures to ensure peaceful celebrations during Sharadiya Durga Puja, the largest religious festival for the Hindu community.

The SRB has reported that around 6,500 members, 550 pickup vehicles, and 450 motorcycles are conducting visible patrols daily across 15 battalions' operational areas to maintain security until October 22. Intelligence surveillance has been strengthened nationwide, and SRB dog squads and bomb disposal units are conducting necessary security sweeps at important puja mandaps and other key locations.

Special force teams are on standby to respond to emergencies, with additional personnel kept in reserve. The SRB is coordinating with local puja committees, public representatives, and other law enforcement agencies to maintain law and order. Security arrangements are monitored and coordinated through the SRB headquarters control room, with CCTV cameras used to oversee important puja mandaps.

Legal action will be taken against anyone attempting to create disorder at puja venues. The SRB's cyber monitoring team is maintaining round-the-clock surveillance to prevent the spread of rumors and misinformation online that could incite tensions or undermine communal harmony. Those spreading false information or provocative content will be identified and face legal consequences.

Durga Puja, which began with Maha Shashthi on October 16, will conclude with Bijoya Dashami on October 21. The SRB is working alongside other law enforcement agencies to ensure that devotees can celebrate the festival peacefully and in a festive atmosphere across the country.
