Dhaka: The Ministry of Shipping has announced the commencement of special launch and steamer services on two river routes to accommodate travelers for the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr. Starting March 17, water vessels will operate from Basila and Shimulia tourist ghats, ensuring a smoother journey for those heading home for the holiday.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the ministry’s press release detailed that special vessels will be deployed to manage the increased traveler demand and enhance the travel experience during Eid. These vessels will cover the Shimulia-Demra-Narayanganj-Chandpur-Kaliganj-Hijla-Barishal route, departing from Shimulia Tourist Ghat near Kanchan Bridge. Meanwhile, the Basila Launch Ghat near Basila Bridge will serve the Basila-Sadarghat-Munshiganj-Chandpur-Eidga Ferry Ghat, Shariatpur-Ilisha-Hakimuddin-Golachipa routes.
To ensure a seamless journey for holidaymakers, authorities have issued instructions to maintain safety and service quality on these river routes. Passengers are encouraged to utilize the designated waterways to reach their destinations safely.
