Seoul: South Korean President Lee Jae Myung today underscored the need for exploring ways and means to achieve deeper engagements between Dhaka and Seoul. The president made the remarks when Bangladesh Ambassador to Republic of Korea Toufiq Islam Shatil presented credentials to him at the Presidential Office in Seoul.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the ceremony was held in a decorated and congenial atmosphere, as per a message received. Following the ceremony, the Ambassador had a brief call on the President, during which he conveyed greetings from the President and Chief Adviser of Bangladesh, and the South Korean President reciprocated it.
Noting that South Korea is an important friend and development partner of Bangladesh, Ambassador Shatil expressed willingness to make efforts to further deepen ties between the two countries. He also conveyed Bangladesh's thanks and appreciation for South Korea's continued humanitarian support for forcibly displaced Rohingyas in Bangladesh.
Additionally, Ambassador Shatil appreciated the South Korean President's declared objective to enhance engagements with the countries of the South. He requested the President to consider visiting Bangladesh at a mutually convenient time in the near future.
