SYLHET: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized over Tk 1.43 crore worth of smuggled goods in a series of operations conducted in the Sylhet and Sunamganj frontier areas. The operations, carried out by BGB's 48 Battalion, resulted in the confiscation of a wide array of goods.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the BGB conducted the raids in the Pratappur, Utma, Sreepur, Kalasadek, and Bishnakandi areas early this morning. The items seized include Indian sarees, Garnier cream, clothes, Ponds face wash, cane, sugar, cow dung, poppy seeds, body spray, candy, soap, and a Scooty. Additionally, the operations led to the capture of goods smuggled out of Bangladesh, as well as a Mahindra tractor used for transporting these items.
The BGB estimates the total value of the seized goods to be approximately Taka 1 crore 43 lakh 96 thousand 700. The operations underscore the ongoing efforts by the BGB to curb smuggling activities along the border regions.
