Gaibandha: SKS Foundation has intensified its warm clothing distribution efforts in response to a cold wave that has impacted the district over the past two days, bringing hardship to the poor and distressed residents.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the individuals residing along the Brahmaputra river basins are experiencing the most significant challenges due to the cold weather. Recognizing the difficulties faced by these communities, SKS Foundation, a non-governmental organization based in Gaibandha, has taken action to provide relief. They have distributed packages of warm clothing to alleviate the discomfort caused by the ongoing cold conditions.

The distribution events took place at the Gozaria and Fulchhari Union Parishads under Fulchhari upazila and the Holdia Union Parishad under Saghata upazila, as part of the SKS Foundation’s Bangladesh Winter Programme’25. This initiative is supported by Muslim Aid USA through the Muslim Aid UK Bangladesh Field Office. During the events, a total of 657 individuals from the Fulchhari and Saghata upazilas received packages containing a blanket, four sweaters, four monkey caps, four pairs of socks, and four jars of petroleum jelly.

The package distribution activities were officially inaugurated by SKS Foundation’s Project Manager, Md. Jalal Uddin, who attended as the chief guest. Other notable attendees included Md. Rubel Sarkar, the Upazila ICT Officer of Fulchhari upazila, Md. Zihadur Rahaman, Acting Chairman of Gazaria Union Parishad, Prosenjit Roy, and Rezaul Karim, Project Coordinator of the Muslim Aid-UK Bangladesh Field Office, along with other SKS Foundation officials.

Additionally, a similar distribution event was organized at the SKS Resource Centre located in Haatbharatkhali under Saghata upazila. Here, packages of warm clothing were distributed to 238 cold-affected women from the Saghata union, further expanding the programme’s reach and impact.
